Thought for the Week December 25, 2016

Mele Kalikimaka, Maligayang Pasko, Feliz Navidad, Joyuex Noel, and Merry Christmas! That about exhausts my ability to say Merry Christmas in other languages. Because of the spread of the gospel, Merry Christmas is a greeting that is likely expressed in more languages than any other refrain.

The song that says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” rings true to me. Though the song mentions a lot of the celebratory things we do during the Christmas season, what makes it the most wonderful time of the year is the remembrance that the most wonderful person ever born came into the world to save us from sin.

While you celebrate Christmas I hope that you get to enjoy some great gatherings for food, that you are able to give the best presents to those you love, that you get to experience some of the most dazzling light and decoration displays, that you can take in a classic movie or two about Christmas, that you get to spend lots of time loving your family and friends, but most of all that you keep Jesus first and spend some time reflecting on all that He means to you and to this world. If you do that you’ll have the best Christmas ever and maybe even get to tell someone who doesn’t know the real meaning of Christmas that Jesus loves them, too! God bless you and Merry Christmas (oh, I already said that). Brief thoughts this Christmas Day.
