It’s In The House
If you were unable to attend on Sunday, October 18, 25, or November 1, please order a CD of these messages. The next three weeks will be crucial as we come together to bring what is In The House so we can finish the building. God is going to do something BIG so you don’t want to miss these services. If you are part of Christian Chapel you will be part of what God will do. Make it a point to be here on November 8, 15, and 22!

To order a CD, either fill out the sheet at the sound booth or call 427-9371.

Tis The Season To Be Cautious
With the holidays approaching we are entering another season that visits about this time every year – flu season. With this in mind and with the growing activity of H1N1 flu virus we all need to become aware of how these viruses spread and exercise proper precautions to keep from spreading the flu when we gather as the body of Christ.

At a minimum we ask everyone to be mindful of the following precautions:
1. If a child presents any symptoms like fever, coughs, runny noses, etc., please allow them to rest at home until the illness has passed. Our policy has been to try to avoid spreading illness by limiting exposure of those who are sick with those who are well. Please be mindful of this courtesy to others.
2. When greeting others at church it may help to avoid shaking hands during the next few months. At the very least, remember to wash your hands as often as possible and make use of the hand sanitizers we have made available throughout the facility.
3. If you have a fever or other symptoms of the flu, you have my permission to rest at home and trust God for healing. If you need prayer please contact the office and we will visit you at home.

While I don’t believe there is any reason to panic or adopt extreme measures, I do think it is prudent to take simple precautions that will limit the spread of this particular seasonal gift.

Our Missional Focus
Missional Focus is that group or segment of local society where a church decides to focus the majority of its efforts and funds in evangelism. Having a focus enables a church to be effective in connecting with and reaching more unchurched people. It does not prevent individual attendees from reaching out to their own neighbors, friends, family, etc., nor does it mean the church will turn away someone outside of that focus group.

Christian Chapel has decided to focus on three specific groups:
Families with children (age 0-18).
Military families with children (age 0-18)
Families with difficulties (marital, child-rearing, finances, etc.)

Operation Christmas Child
We are partnering with Samaritan’s Purse again this year to fill and send shoeboxes of gifts to needy children around the world. You can pick up a brochure that provides complete instructions for filling a shoebox at church. Get the family involved and make it a fun time of generous giving this Christmas. Each child also receives a presentation of the gospel in his or her own language. This is an outreach effort. Bring filled shoeboxes to church no later than November 15th. We filled 68 last year. Let’s shoot for 100 this year!

Missions Faith Promises
So far Faith Promises totaling $95,970.00, have been turned in. If you have not yet made your Faith Promise for 2010, you can do so at any time. Simple fill out a Faith Promise card and turn it in during the offering or give it to Pastor Tom, Pastor Doug, or Sue Calvert.

Thanksgiving Food Giveaway! We are collecting canned goods to partner with Glenwood Elementary School and assist needy families. Please think of others when you do your shopping and bring your donated items to church.

Men’s & Women’s Workday On Saturday, November 21, 9AM TO 3PM. Please join us as we prepare for the holidays by cleaning, painting, landscaping, repairing, etc. Everyone can help and you don’t have to be here the whole time. Come for an hour or two. Whatever you can do will help.
